About Us
Cable Corporation Ltd., a company within the Mehta Group, is Uganda’s first electrical cable factory. It was started in 1968 to manufacture cables and conductors with technical collaboration from Sumitomo Heavy Industries Japan. Uganda had commissioned the Owens Falls Dam in 1958 and the electricity grid was being extended.
All the cables and conductors were being imported at that time. Cable Corporation fulfilled the dual role of both being able to manufacture cables locally in Uganda while substituting imports.

H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni visited Cable Corp on October 12, 2024 as a part of Mehta Group's Centenary Celebrations in Uganda.
Cable corporation must have supplied more than half of Uganda's entire distribution grid.
